Night and Day Quilt Finally Finished

I finished the binding on my Night and Day quilt over the labor day weekend. I had intended to double quilt this project using turquoise and purple Aurifil thread.  After spending two days machine quilting I decided that I was happy using only turquoise.  Who knows, maybe someday I'll change my mind and add the extra quilting...

The day after I finished the quilting, I attended a local quilt guild meeting.  The demo for the night was fine machine quilting.  Our teacher mentioned that you should never cross over existing stitching when quilting.  I just chuckled to myself because I had spent the weekend breaking the rules.

Thanks for hosting this challenge Tonya.  I have really enjoyed working on this quilt and seeing all the other creative ideas everyone brought to this challenge.

LOVE your finish. I wish I had more time these days, I'm itching to do more solid liberated stitching.

Great quilt...and I doubt you looked the least bit guilty about those darn rules!

Love the quit. Some day I'll make a real 2-sided quilt.

"Never cross quilting lines" Where do they get this stuff from? She obviously has never seen Leah Day. http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/

Linda, I love it! And you know the weirdest part? Ever since I can remember, whenever I close my eyes in the dark, I see trillions of weblike lines that get filled in with a sparkle of colors--just like the ones you have on your quilt! They are truly what I see at night, my friend!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. But...now that I have come over here, I feel completely inadequate and talentless.
Awesome quilts you have there dear! My MIL used to quilt and wanted to teach me but my short attention span and low frustration level came between us.

*ironically, by word verification is PLAIN--like my creative imagination.

Oh I just found your blog. ¡¡This quilt has me awe struck!! I never play by the rules....and esp NOT in anything to do with quilt making!! I too am a disciple of Leah Day and she certainly doesn't make any silly rules. I would like to ask about the making of the letters....¿how do you do it? ¿Is there any place I can go to learn this??? I only started quilting in 2003 and love to learn new things. ¡Thanks for the great blog!

I love this quilt, front and back. It makes me smile to look at it. Being wrapped in it must be very inspirational.
