My Double Nine-Patch
Thought I'd show you a pic of where I am now. I still have a 9-patch border to do and then a dark wide outer border. Then it's on to the quilting.

Pinwheel Parade
I finished the quilt for the newest challenge. I hit a point with it that I didn't much care for it. So, I stopped. Then, the next time I looked at it, I liked it. Funny, that. Does it ever happen to you like that? I think it's just that we have to get distance from it and look at it in a different perspective.
It's square, it just doesn't want to hang flat and I refuse to pin it because it's SUPPOSED to stay up on the darned design wall all by itself. It's staying for now. Though I suspect when I come home tonight from work it'll be on the floor.

Letters
I made my letters for my Liberated Amish adventure. The D and I had quite a tussle. I won, but just barely. I'll be working on the finishing touches of the top this week.

Amish Bars
It's not finished, so again, you're only getting a partial picture. I hope to finish it this week during my two days off. I have some more applique and, though the challenge didn't call for them, some words (Tonya, you created a word fiend!). And of course, the quilting. I'm thinkin' straight-ish vertical lines. This is based on the Amish Bars pattern.

Begun
Anyway, I put the proposed quilt on the design wall and I LOVE IT!!! Here's a little sneak pic of one of the proposed corners. You'll have to wait for the rest until it's done.

My project
I have had an idea for awhile now that's loosely based on Browns' collection #004:Bars Variation-Lancaster County, PA c.1915. I'm just making a wall hanging again.
I like that you keep adding challenges. The first one felt like I was just getting my feet wet. Eventually, I'd imagine we'll have to push ourselves to newer ideas. Great idea, Tonya!! What's the deadline for this one?

Done!
I've finished the LibAmish quilt. Thrill! Thrill! I love, love, love it! Thank you, Tonya, for putting our group together and providing the impetus to make this! This picture is a little fuzzy, but of the ten or so that I took, this one shows the quilting in the black the best.
The gridlines in the burgandy border were a bit free-rainging. In fact, they became downright unruly toward the end there. Still, I think it lends to the personality of the piece.
If I have enough time between other projects, I'm going to try another different one.

Ready for letters
The center panel is finished. Tomorrow I will attach the 3 inner borders and start on the letters. I want it to say "Faith", "Hope" and "Charity" on a wide border. I've never made letters before, so it may end up as just "Faith". We'll see.

The Project
This is Wendy. My DH has termed this "The Project", so the name has stuck. Here's my crystal blocks I've been L&E for the past few weeks. My quandry (much to my DH's amusement) has been which background to use. In case you can't see the colors well, we have dark green, black, burgandy and navy. The burgandy is about a half step darker in real life. That's the one I'm leaning toward, but the black is nice, too. So is the navy. Of course I just like the color green. See my problem? I need impartial judges, please.

Ocean Crystals?
This is Wendy. Like Tonya, I was really attracted to the crystal quality of the Ocean Waves quilt. I've been working on mine as a L&E project. But, I finally have one (wave? crystal?) done. I never worry much about seams matching. And I didn't pick through my colors. What I grabbed is what went on. The only thing I was picky about was the turn of the second HST unit. When it's all put together, I want a raised effect to the center of these units. I've only trimmed off the jagged bits, not really trimmed to size until I get the rest done and can fit them together.
I'll go with a navy background, I think. With burgandy or black letters in a colored border. Oh, this is going to be a table runner. At least that's the plan.

If you can believe it
Wendy here. This picture represents 355 sewn units of HSTs waiting to be trimmed. They will finish at 1". If I were making a full quilt, I figure I'd need at least 1600 of these units and some VERY HUGE borders. As it is, I'm happy with a table runner. I'll be putting these together as a L&E project while I finish some other WIPs. I've never made words before, and I must admit I am a little nervous about them. But, hey. This is liberated, right? Anything goes. I planned on a black background, but I have no idea what color border yet (where the words will be).

Started Cutting
I started cutting strips for mine today. I had to keep telling myself to use light colors and not quite as many darks. I'm still not sure what exactly I'm doing. More and more, I find myself thinking of the Ocean Waves framed on one side by another design. Plus my big blocks, or using the big blocks in the frame. So many decisions! What's a girl to do?

Hi
I'm Wendy. I've made a couple Amish quilts, including a somewhat liberated one. That was my first time stippling, so please don't look too closely at it. I'm excited about this project that Tonya has planned for us. I hope to do something I've always wanted to do: a truly random quilt. Just let the colors fall where they may, even if it means a few big clumps of one color. I also have some large blocks left over from the previous projects that I'll try to fit in somewhere. I'll probably use Ocean Waves or Railroad as my jump off point. I've never done letters before so that'll be interesting!
