Not sure my border is going to stick with these quilt blocks. Not even sure how many quilts I'm going to end up with, not to mention orphans.
I made a wonky house block to show someone how to make them. (that first one is middle bottom in this next photo). Thought the block was incredibly dull, and was then amazed how much I liked it with the components I was working on. So I made a couple more houses, this time incorporating some of the strippy bits I'd already made
I took my blocks home and when I put them on my design wall, I was no longer sure I should include the X blocks. I'm not always sure where the line is between fun busy and too busy.
Taking out almost all the X blocks and the triangles:
I have a few more houses to finish up. And I want more components that have wider strips, bigger pieces. Then I'll play some more.
What do you guys think?

Tonya, I like it much better without the X-es. Just my two cents ;-)
I'm loving the houses, and I like it with a few x's. Really like the addition of the houses,
I like the third version best. it has a feeling of calm busyness compared to the other two. how big is that center panel now?
I'm partial to your houses! Love that striped one! Sure looks like you're having fun!
re Julie's idea of getting the quilts in one place: could we not develop a Flickr photo sharing site for finished tops and/or quilts? we could link it to the blog snd maybe Joe Cunningham's blog or info abou the exhibit. with Kristen bragging about this challenge all over the place and to Gwen Marsten, we've got to show our stuff! then again, you could all send your quilts to me and I'll find an exhibit space for them and invite you all up to Winnipeg mid-summer and we could have a really liberated Amishfest! I'll make shoofly pie or something equally yummy!
I like it with the Xes too. Pokey looks distinctly unimpressed, but she's probably put out because it's vertical on the wall and she can't sleep on it. (Shorty would agree!)
I don't know....why do the x's remind me of fences when paired with the houses?..........I really like number two.....reminds me of a country scene......houses, fences and plowed fields.
Love the color flow too.
I think this is very creative I like #2. It appears you you went with flow and got an awesome look. Good job lov it
I definitely like the addition of the houses...with or without the x's.
I like number two with lots of X's. Number three looks a little tame......I love the house blocks, they add alot to the quilt.
I like the version with the houses, the X's and the triangles. I love your tall chimney and the striped house. Do you think it gets a little lost without a white background like the others?) You are having way too much fun and I am enjoying following along!
I love them all but I love the x's ... hoow ever will you decide :)
You haven't done any houses for ages!
I like the third option and that little black and blue square.
Love the houses! I'm partial to 3 - but I love the energy of all the colors & piecing with the houses; it makes me think of a city. Maybe a skyscraper is in that last set somewhere. . .
Not sure if this is helpful - but I just love to see you play, and share all the good options that pop up in the process! I want to be more playful too!
The last picture with your pretty cat has a quietness to it, that I love...
