Medallion Center Components

I haven't been able to get much sewing in, but after a fun yesterday I have this

these are strip components that I may sew together to make string blocks like the ones in #100 Crazy Star. Some of you picked that one and were just sewing things together and it looked fun, so decided to make some too. I'm thinking this will be in my medallion center:

This is all just playing right now, making bits before I decide how to put them together. I'm going to do some letters to toss into the mix for the center. My problem right now is I love how this center looks put together like this, rather than using them to make the Crazy Star blocks where they come in at all sorts of angles. That way is definitely more lively, but this has a simplicity I like too.

As far as class stuff goes, have you all picked a quilt to be inspired by? You can see from my work that you don't have to choose just one quilt - you can grab bits and pieces from many. Have you got your fabrics? At a certain point, it's better to just go with your gut and PICK rather than overthinking it. I do that myself and it doesn't get me anywhere. Just sew.

I love all of the stuff you areputting together... I was just thinking yesterday that there are so many quilts that I love in the book and website that I don't want to stick with just one.... and even though I bought the solids my hearts is in the batiks so I am going to stick with those for (at least) the first quilt. I am going to do mine with a center then rows of different things surrounding so I can pull in other blocks from the quilts.

I agree - I like this for a medallion center (more than a star).

HAVE FUN!

I also like the simplistic look it has now. I really like the range of fabric colors you are using. Are some of them hand dyed or Cherrywood? I'm thinking of making my first purchase from them after seeing how great they look in these Liberated Amish quilt tops.

I think I want a t shirt that says "JUST SEW" on it in big old liberated letters!

Me too - an XXL T-shirt for "just sewing" in.

Wonderful colours. I adore the medallion centre. Reminds me of V's Waverunner.

If you like it the way you have it than stick with it...the quilts are inspirational starting points! (That is my story and I'm sticking to it since neither of my attempts ended up where they were "supposed to."
