WIP

Laura here- hubby's Valentines gift was being able to work on the challenge quilt. Still have some blocks to add and borders of some kind. When I first saw this unamed quilt and pattern I saw chains, hence the words, which are from Chris Tomlin's version of amazing Grace. Got this far and realized that I should have used several blues, each just a hint off, but too late now I guess *sigh*.

I still have a lavendar that will be in the borders, perhaps with the red... any suggestions????

Wow,that is just lovely. The words and the blocks go so well visually, as well as thematically. Magic ... and I think the different blues give it depth.

Wow! Such a strong, graphic design.

I have no border suggestions for you ... just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you'll know the answer yourself. This is great.

Yes, I agree with Sophie.....
you are moving in the right direction..listen to the quilt I think it will tell you want it wants. Its terrific and oh so liberated..........I couldn't figure where you were going with
"my chains" when you showed the words on their own....now we know :0)

Happy Sewing

I love how you've integrated the words in with the blocks. and your letters area all wonderful. I'm thinkign it doesn't even need much of a borde - just more of the lighter blue to expand it. if that made sense...

Had to adjust, was trying to be creative and "bust" the chains, so I split some of the straight pieces. The thing is, it created an brief secondary pattern that I liked better, but it was in the blue, not black. Going to finish this one and then maybe try it again on a smaller scale. The pattern that comes from a simple "rail fence" is really fun to play with.

I agree...Wow! This is a very powerful quilt top so far. And Tonya is right...I don't think it needs much in the way of a border...this is strong the way it is.

Amazing. I love how you've split some of the chains and your letters are wonderful.

Yup - expand the blue for the border. Don't add another colour. Let the quilt speak.

I like the idea of just plain blue borders to hold it all in.....it's already so graphic and strong!
